Viking Line’s new LNG-powered ro-pax ferry ‘Viking Glory’ has been chosen as the winner of the Shippax Ro-Pax Interior Design Award for 2022. A special Shippax award was given to Mercy Ships’ Global Mercy, the largest ship -civil hospital in the world.
Deltamarin would like to congratulate Viking Line and Mercy Ships for these fine recognitions. We are proud to have been involved in the projects and to have our design and work honored in this way. The Shippax Awards were launched as a way to stimulate innovative solutions and honor industry pioneers.
Viking Glory was presented by the judges of the Shippax Awards as follows; “The Viking Glory takes the concept of ‘ferry cruise’ to a new dimension, creating a new travel experience through a design inspired by both the sea and the culture of the Nordic countries. With this innovative approach, it continues Viking Line’s successful ‘cruise ferry’ tradition that began in the 1970s.”
Deltamarin developed the vessel concept together with Viking Line and provided assistance in the tender and contract phases. The interior was designed in collaboration with an architecture and design agency Koncept TM. For this climate-friendly passenger ship, particular attention was paid to the development of the hull shape, weight control, energy efficiency and improvement of the overall arrangement. Particular attention was paid to the energy efficiency of the vessels and the new concept ended up being 10% more energy efficient.
Deltamarin also provided the basic and detailed design of all disciplines as well as supported the yard in project management and provided supervision services during the production of the new build project.
