She tells HANNAH HOPKINS about her love for cruises and what she looks forward to on our Seacation special.
What do you like about cruises?
Personally, I like to move on vacation because I get bored quite easily.
My favorite trips are when I visit many different places but also take breaks along the way – that makes the trip part of the vacation.
So the idea of ââdisembarking, going around town and spending a few hours in a different place, then going back up and sailing to the next place sounds great.
It also feels quite familiar to me, as it reminds me of being on tour and waking up to a whole new destination. The cruise really appeals to the gypsy in me.
What are the best things about a cruise experience? I love that it takes the stress out of the holidays because you don’t have to plan – you can just relax and have everything ready for you.
The cruises are so high end now – the food is amazing, there are a lot of great chefs on board and they have really raised the bar with the entertainment, with Broadway and West End style shows that are to incredible standards.
Additionally, this cruise has plenty of live entertainment and is therefore a great deal for guests. It’s a floating festival and people get what they pay for.

What are you most expecting from the cruise? After all we’ve all been through this year, I can’t wait to take the time to relax, have fun and get out and meet some of the fans on the ship. I think people are going to be so ready to have a good time.
Would love to have a massage or beauty treatment at the spa and I can never resist good food and wine so can’t wait to try the seafood bar on board.
I don’t know much about the UK coast either, so I can’t wait to see more, especially Portland in Dorset and the Jurassic Coast.
Like a lot of people, I usually go abroad for vacations, so it’s good that we had to reinvest in our own country and get to know it better this year.
How does it feel to play on board? When you play in a theater you forget you are on a ship because they are so big and strong and they have the same seats as if you were in a regular hall.
The spec is huge, with very good quality sound and stage lighting. Will it be fun to meet some of the other artists on board?
Yeah, I can’t wait. We all work together regularly and we have done so for the past 15 years.
Everyone says the ’80s are back, but I actually did my first’ 80s revival tour in 2001. We have performed in arenas all over the country and the live work has not stopped. since. The rebirth has therefore lasted a long time.
‘I CAN NOT WAIT’
It’s great because I got to do so many shows with Toyah and Martin Fry, and Nik Kershaw who is a very dear friend of mine. We have all come a long way. And the group that we use is amazing.
We all do a lot of festivals with them so the punters are going to have a great show. What’s your favorite song live?
My favorite is Heart And Soul, but I know China In Your Hand is the most important because it was number 1 for five weeks.
I look forward to hearing other artists’ songs performed live as well.
The Look Of Love, by ABC, is just fantastic and Nik Kershaw will probably do I Won’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me, and I hope Altered Images’ Clare Grogan will perform Happy Birthday.
Watching my peers play is always a lot of fun. I can’t wait to be there – it will be a big party for the artists and the audience.
