To capitalize on the strong demand for cruise tourism, Thomas Cook India and SOTC Travel are launching attractive cruise holidays – across all segments

Cruises represent a unique value proposition: an all-inclusive vacation without the hassle of multiple check-ins/check-outs and transfers

Mumbai, India – As cruise vacations see an unprecedented rise in demand, Indians across all segments are showing an increased appetite for cruises. To capitalize on this significant opportunity, Thomas Cook (India) Limited – India’s leading omni-channel travel services company and its group company, SOTC Travel, have launched a wide range of cruise vacations to international and domestic destinations. The companies intend to tap into the leisure market, special occasions, B-leisure, MICE and weddings.

Starting early to coincide with the restart of travel, post-pandemic, Thomas Cook and SOTC were quick to seize the potential of domestic cruises. The companies have become the best sellers of cruises in India (Cordelia), with more than 4000 clients booked in this short period of time. With the rapid relaxation of international health protocols/restrictions, company data reflects a significant increase of 35-40% month-on-month for cruise vacations; the main drivers of demand being families: 41%; young professionals/millennials: 29%; couples/newlyweds: 24%. Thomas Cook and SOTC’s new Cruise Holidays aim to maximize this strong and growing potential – with its sea voyages, river cruises and sustainable blue tourism programmes.

Cruises represent a unique value proposition: an all-inclusive vacation without the hassle of multiple check-ins/check-outs and transfers. A cruise is packed with exciting onboard activities and entertainment, such as Broadway shows, stand-up comedy, casinos/discotheques; play area dedicated to children; diversity of gastronomic experiences, indoor and outdoor games, adventure activities such as rock climbing, ziplining and water sports; variety of shopping experiences too. Additionally, shore excursions allow travelers to enjoy sightseeing at various ports of call.

In addition to Cordelia Cruises in Indian waters, Thomas Cook & SOTC offer a range of short-haul cruises: return to Singapore via Malaysia on Genting Dream Cruises and Royal Caribbean Cruises; also a voyage to Arabia and Dubai covering Dubai-Oman-Abu Dhabi-Qatar on Azamara Quest and Costa Cruises Middle East sailings covering Dubai-Abu Dhabi-Muscat-Bahrain. European cruises continue to be in high demand and the Cruise Holiday portfolio offers Mediterranean cruises like Norwegian Cruise Line, Viking Ocean Cruises, Princess and Azamara covering Spain-France-Italy; an intensive voyage from Greece covering the ports of Turkiye on the Azamara Pursuit; Scandinavian crossings of Norwegian Fjords and Cunard; also Celebrity Cruises to the exotic islands of the Canaries and the Azores. The United States is heavily represented via Royal Caribbean Cruises’ Hawaii and Alaska cruises, Carnival Cruises and family favorite – Disney Cruise Line. Plus, luxury Antarctica icebreaker cruises on Ponant create an exceptional polar expedition experience. In addition to sea/ocean cruises, luxury river cruises like Avalon Waterways, Uniworld River Cruises and Viking Cruises are now seeing notable demand.
