This FedEx Delivery Truck Got The Coolest RV Makeover

Van life is an extremely popular phenomenon in recent years. People bought things like the Ford Transit or the Mercedes Springer in order to convert them into complete living spaces. Plus, some companies will convert these vehicles for you, so you don’t have to do the work yourself. But some adventure seekers are converting unlikely vehicles into motorhomes, and now an old FedEx delivery truck can make it onto that list.

Someone turned a FedEx truck into a motorhome

Where there’s a will, there’s a way, and Army veteran Jonathan Norris has proven it. After buying an old FedEx truck, Norris embarked on a journey to convert an old delivery vehicle into a van.

The delivery vehicle in question uses a V8 engine and rides on a 1998 Chevy Grumman Olson chassis. It features an 18-foot cargo bay that Norris was able to remove to add items like a bed, microwave, and other subtleties. The FedEx Motorhome also has a large refrigerator and water capabilities on board.

So, now this van no longer delivers packages but instead takes Norris on his many adventures. Which seem to include kayaking and mountain biking.

Is life in a van for you?

Van life is not for everyone. And as encouraging as the seemingly endless supply of Youtube and social media content surrounding this lifestyle, you really should consider the pros and cons of hitting the road for an extended period of time.

First, there is the cost of converting a vehicle or buying something that is already equipped for it. According to RV.com, Norris says he spent about $25,000 building it, including the $3,500 to buy the old FedEx truck.

If your build does not have things like running water, you will need to find facilities available to provide you with a toilet and shower. It seems favorites for these include gyms or state parks. But, having water on board will definitely make the life of the van easier.

In today’s world, life in a van might be a little easier than it was in the past. More and more companies have opened up to remote working, so with the right setup, you can even work from the comfort of your vehicle.

Which vans are best for van life?

Generally speaking, it seems that models like the Ford Transit have been popular among those looking to build a motorhome. But as Norris has proven, if you want something different, you can certainly take it upon yourself to make it a reality.

In the video above, Norris said it took him over a year and a half to get everything done with his FedEx truck. Thus, time is also something to consider when undertaking a task like this. There are probably plenty of half-finished motorhomes whose owners have just lost interest.

Ultimately, this FedEx motorhome is probably one of the most unique vans on the road. And hopefully it will inspire more fun builds.
