The Chincoteague Oyster Festival is sold out

September 28, 2021 – Chincoteague Island, Virginia: The 48th Annual Chincoteague Island Oyster Festival is a SOLD OUT event for October 9, 2021, as many people are excited to attend their first big event in two years! The Chincoteague Chamber of Commerce planned the event with public health and safety in mind. Face masks and hand sanitizer will be available at the festival gates courtesy of the Eastern Shore Rural Health System for attendees. Wash stations and toilets are amply provided throughout the festival and patrons are encouraged to bring and wear face coverings when in line or wherever they feel more comfortable doing so. Sanitizer will also be available in all catering tents, and Virginia Department of Health regulations will be strictly observed for the safety of all. The chamber also advises anyone who is unwell or has a fever on festival day to stay home as per the Tom’s Cove Park rules which are posted at the entrance to the campground.

Doors open at 10 a.m. Aperitifs will be served at 11 am with a full menu including all seafood from noon. Island Boy is once again available to entertain participants from noon to 4 p.m. The competition for the best decorated space will be back. Get ready to win the coveted prize! An extravaganza of fabulous prizes donated by local businesses will be raffled off to one lucky winner at 4 p.m. Tickets will be sold throughout the day for a chance to win. Merchandise will be available for purchase at the Chamber office the week prior to the festival and at the Merchandise Tent on festival day with cash and credit card accepted. Short and long sleeve t-shirts, hooded and zipper sweatshirts, hats and trays will be available. Due to limited staff, presales and shipping will not be offered.

We encourage you to use the FREE Pony Express Trolley provided by the House and the Town of Chincoteague as parking at the campground is limited. The Pony Express will run free from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will cost $ 0.50 from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Visit ChincoteagueChamber.com for more helpful tips to make your day more enjoyable.

Don’t forget to thank our wonderful volunteers, who will take care of preparing your oyster feast …… .. on the half-shell, steamed, only fries, and donuts; clam chowder, clam fritters, shrimp cocktail, salad bar, boardwalk fries, hushpuppies and hot dogs. Non-alcoholic drinks included in the ticket price. Glass mugs, beer and commemorative desserts will be available for cash purchase only.
