North Shore Civic Ballet seeks treasures and volunteers for annual holiday online auction


Fall has just arrived and the North Shore Civic Ballet is already gearing up for its annual holiday online auction.

This year, the nonprofit dance company celebrates its 47th season and invites the public to help train the next generation of dancers and performers in the North Shore region of Massachusetts. Proceeds from the auction support scholarships, new choreography, costumes, special educational projects, and other needed dance equipment and resources. The NCSB is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization headquartered at the Marblehead School of Ballet in Marblehead, Massachusetts.

The online auction officially opens for auction on Friday, November 19 at Bidding for Good,, and continues until Friday, December 3. Prior to the launch date, articles can only be previewed.

The NSCB is soliciting donations of gift cards and gift certificates representing a range of services and products, artwork, jewelry, handmade items and other clothing for auction. Businesses and individuals are welcome to donate gift certificates or gift cards for hotel stays, restaurants, spas, retail stores, car detailing, massages, photographs, handicrafts, luxury services and more. Other suggestions are tickets to sporting events, concerts, shows, theaters, excursions, museums and other unique experiences. Unexpired and unused gift certificates are also welcome.

Bringing an item to auction benefits both the buyer and the donor. Retail businesses are gaining visibility. For example, artisans making jewelry or sartorial art also benefit from showing their work on the auction site. All items for sale are professionally photographed and displayed on the site. Drop off your donations at the NSCB home at the Marblehead School of Ballet, 115 Pleasant Street in Marblehead, Massachusetts. Prior to making the donation, donors are asked to call in advance at 781-631-6262 to schedule a pickup or drop-off.

“Ballet is a traditional art form passed down from generation to generation. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to create hardships for artists, we want to support, inspire and train dancers in the Côte-Nord region and provide them with the resources they need. to appreciate and study this art form. Buyers across the country are placing bids in the auction looking for new items to buy during the holiday season. With the help of the public, the North Shore Civic Ballet is providing buyers with more experiences, services and products available to bid on and raise funds that provide professional training for dancers, ”said Paula K. Shiff, artistic director, NSCB.

Volunteers are invited to participate in the auction with their time and talent. They can support the art of dance by purchasing gift cards and gift certificates, developing and distributing flyers about the auction and other activities.
