According to IRCTC sources, the railways plan to resume services, which have been suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Sources further claimed that Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnav would convene a meeting next week in which a decision on resuming services related to on-board cooking and catering services, providing bed linen and towels. blankets, could be taken.

The decision to resume these services is likely due to the high demand from travelers and even railway personnel for these basic facilities on passenger trains.

Since March 2020, the railways have suspended catering activities and other services, such as the provision of bed sheets, blankets, following an increase in the lockdown triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic. The suspension of catering services also affected the employment of lakhs of people.

Later, in August 2021, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Cooperation (IRCTC) took over the online catering services.

According to the report, the railways also investigated its catering services. The survey of 20,000 passengers found that 80% preferred cooked food to packaged meals.

Over 500 restaurants, including Comesum, Domino’s, Railrestro, Zoop, Relfood, Garg Rajdhani online food, Yatri’s, Rail Recipe are available on the IRCTC website.

  • Select the food from the list of cafes, outlets and quick service restaurants available there.
