The Cordelia cruise ship Empress, which is at the center of a drug seizure involving high profile celebrities, set sail for Lakshadweep from Mumbai on October 2.
Shortly after, officials from the Narcotics Control Bureau (BNC), disguised as passengers on the ship, launched a raid that lasted nearly eight hours.
After the raid, Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, and his friend Arbaaz Merchant were among eight people arrested by NCB officials.

THE EMPRESS CRUISE SHIP
At 692 feet, the Empress cruise ship is huge. It was housing 1,800 passengers (its maximum capacity) at the time of the drug seizure. The ship has 11 decks and 796 cabins in total.
ON BOARD FACILITIES:
The Empress Cruise has several luxury facilities like a spa, salon, gymnasium, and even a shopping area that offers multiple brands. There is a card room, a reading area and even a place for educational and recreational activities for children called “Cordelia Academy”.

For the trip that Aryan Khan was on board for, several features were announced by the cruise liner on Twitter, including an open-air theater, burlesque shows, flashy party, poolside toga party, kayaking , a family nightclub, Latin dance lessons, and whiskey and wine tasting.
OTHER FEATURES INCLUDE:
The cruise also includes a food lodge, gourmet restaurant, three specialty restaurants and four bars, casino and casino bar, theater, pool, nightclub and lounges, as well as live bands and a DJ.

There are five types of rooms to stay at the Empress. The President’s suite is the largest and most expensive room. Other suites include Balcony Stateroom, Ocean View Stateroom, and Inside Stateroom.

FOOD AND KITCHEN
From regional specialties to gastronomy, the cruise caters to different palates.
While “Essence of India” serves regional specialties from across India, “The International Grill” offers gourmet cuisine on its menu.

The cruise also has a street food corner selling everything from Mumbai vada pav to Delhi chaat to Kolkata Rolls.
There was a beverage station and an ice cream and dessert stop among other novelty food stores.
BARS AND LIVING ROOMS
The cruise has several liquor bars, including the Chairman’s Club, Connexions Bar, Pool Bar and The Dome.
Two night cruise for two adults and two children start at around Rs 40,000. Longer stays can cost up to Rs 5 lakhs.
