General Service [GS(X)]/Hydro Frame

General Service [GS(X)]

– Manages the ship and also uses the ship as a tactical war instrument

– Participate in all facets of naval operations aboard a warship

– Trained in specializations such as anti-submarine warfare, navigation, communications, artillery and divine

Hydro Frame

– Operates from highly sophisticated platforms to conduct surveys at sea

– Operate in territorial waters of India or on the high seas as required

– Involved in the production of navigational charts that comply with international standards and are used by navigators around the world


Naval Armaments Inspection Framework (NAIC)

– As a Naval Armament Inspection Officer, you will be responsible for inspecting armament supplied to the Navy by various agencies

– Responsible for internal Research & Development, leading to indigenization

– Ensure the quality, safety and reliability of naval armament and supplies purchased by the Navy

– Provide quality assurance coverage during production/acceptance at various munitions factories, power supplies, private industry and overseas OEM premises

– Navy pilots operate fighter jets and helicopters from aircraft carriers and ships at sea as well as maritime reconnaissance aircraft ashore.

– Naval aircraft search, locate and attack enemy ships, submarines and aircraft while providing defensive cover for our assets at sea.



– Trained by the Navy in inventory management, finance, supply chain management and information technology

– Responsible for managing integrated supply chain activities, using advanced technologies and appropriate managerial skills

– Education Officers provide support for the education, training and professional development of Navy personnel.

– Prepare for future missions, which involves the training of officers and sailors of the Indian Navy

– Responsible for the scientific and methodical instruction, including the theoretical aspects of the technical subjects of all branches of the Navy and the general educational advancement of its personnel

– Responsible for the establishment, operation and introduction of the latest techniques and technologies in the naval reference libraries installed on board naval vessels and in various naval establishments

– Implementation of the provisions of the Official Languages ​​Act 1963 and the Official Languages ​​Regulations 1976 regarding the progressive use of Hindi in official work and the monitoring of this progress.

– Provide support to meteorological/oceanographic services for maritime operations

– Teaching scientific, technical and service subjects to naval cadets in B. Tech training at INA

Engineering Branch [General Service (GS)]

– Operate and maintain marine engineering equipment on board ships/submarines/aircraft

– Work in repair yards and maintenance units to provide third and fourth line maintenance

– Work in design and production organizations to contribute to indigenous shipbuilding


Electrical branch [General Service (GS)]

– Maintain combat readiness of sophisticated missile systems, submarine systems, long-range sensors and an advanced combat management system that uses niche technologies and complex software algorithms

– Responsible for managing large power distribution networks using advanced power management computer systems

– At the Naval Repair Yards, officers will be exposed to managing large Tier IV maintenance facilities

– Electrical Officers are also assigned to Naval Design Organizations, giving them the opportunity to work on the design and construction aspects of naval vessels.

Collective insurance

The Navy provides all of its serving officers with the following life insurance coverage at a very minimal monthly premium.

  • Pilot/Observer/Submariner: 57 Lakhs
  • All other officers: 50 Lakhs

leave concessions

Agents benefit from generous holidays. Agents are entitled to 60 days of annual leave and 20 days of occasional leave. You can also accumulate 30 days of leave in the year that you can cash in when you retire. The accumulation of leaves has a limit which is stipulated periodically.

Travel Discounts

Officers and their family members are entitled to free train/plane travel on leave once a year. Six travel concession forms are also authorized for each agent to travel by train.


All staff of the Standing Commission would receive financial support even after retirement, in the form of a pension. In the unfortunate event of the death of an Officer, his spouse continues to receive the pension. Medical coverage also continues for life. All short-term officers will receive a gratuity upon retirement.
