GALVESTON.COM: Return of the POLAR EXPRESS™ train ride

With the holidays fast approaching, the Galveston Railroad Museum is celebrating the return of THE POLAR EXPRESS™ train ride to GALVESTON ISLAND! This immersive, family-focused experience welcomed over 1.4 million passengers at 54 locations across the US, Canada and the UK in 2019. Popular dates and times are expected to fill up quickly, but seats are now available. available for departures from NOVEMBER 11TH and continue through DECEMBER 23. Tickets go on sale August 22 at and guests are encouraged to book as soon as this beloved holiday tradition should sell out.

The adventure comes to life as the train departs for a round trip to the North Pole led by a talented cast of actors. To the soundtrack of the film, passengers will relive the magic of the classic story as they are taken aboard the POLAR EXPRESS™ for an hour-long journey to meet Santa Claus. Once on board, the driver will make their way through the coach and punch golden tickets before hot chocolate and a delicious cookie are served by dancing chefs. Passengers then read the classic children’s book, The Polar Express, by Chris Van Allsburg. Santa Claus and his helpers board the train to welcome passengers, and each guest receives the first Christmas present. During the trip, the characters in each car organize fantastic entertainment on board, just like in the movie! Each guest will leave with a souvenir sleigh bell and a souvenir golden ticket in addition to the wonderful memories of this magical journey. Just like the children in the book, families are encouraged to wear their pajamas for the ride!

Located in the heart of historic downtown Galveston, the Galveston Railroad Museum celebrates its 4e year of presentation of this popular family event where pajamas are encouraged!! Kids of all ages will begin their experience in the train depot to begin their journey, then board the train for a trip to the North Pole. All aboard! Golden tickets are verified by the driver to kick off the fun with live performances, a special appearance by Santa Claus, hot chocolate and cookies, and at the height of the arrival at the North Pole where Santa and his helpers are busy preparing for Christmas. The fun continues back at the train depot for photo ops and visits with Santa and his helpers. A family tradition for some, the Polar Express Experience is the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit.

Refreshments and light meals are available at the Whistle Stop Café and Riondo Food Truck located in the Garden of Steam.

The Galveston Railroad Museum is open daily from 10-5 for visitors to enjoy exhibits, learn about railroad history and immerse themselves in the Golden Age of Rail.
