Expansion plan to create jobs at the manufacturing site
MS-RT is due to open a new manufacturing plant on the Ford Dagenham Estate in June, which will also boost employment at its existing Mamhilad Park Estate factory, creating 170 new jobs at the two sites.
MS-RT is a design-focused automotive engineering company that creates bespoke Ford vehicles. Its range includes the Ford Transit Connect MS-RT, Ford Transit Custom MS-RT and Ford Ranger MS-RT, with vehicles sold to consumers through specialist Ford Transit dealerships across the UK.
MS-RT has a license agreement with M-Sport, which operates a global motorsport business on the circuits of the world’s most acclaimed motorsport series. Santander UK has provided MS-RT with £2.3 million in funding to develop its new premises on the site of Ford’s main manufacturing plant in the UK. The funding supports its investment to fully renovate the facility with state-of-the-art facilities.
The Dagenham facility has Freeport status allowing for more profitable exports, primarily to Europe, with the UK initially being its main volume market. MS-RT’s existing site at Mamhilad Park Estate was established in 2015 and employs 130 people. When the new operation opens in Ford Dagenham, MS-RT’s parent company, EDC Limited, will focus its Mamhilad operations on a growing list of automaker customers looking to add “sports derivatives” of their commercial vehicle range to their product line.
The company plans to hire an additional 50 people at Mamhilad Park Estate over the coming year, while continuing to invest in additional manufacturing facilities and equipment at the site.
The expansion of Ford Dagenham, coupled with increased capacity at Pontypool, is expected to boost EDC Limited’s annual turnover from £21m last year to a forecast of £66m. pounds sterling by 2025.
Joe Pace, Managing Director of MS-RT, said: “Incorporating Santander UK as a lender has allowed our business to expand our operations, increase business revenue and ultimately , to create more jobs for the local community, both in Pontypool and Dagenham. . We look forward to strengthening our relationship in the future and to working with Santander UK in our future endeavours.
Myrddyn Hughes, Relationship Manager at Santander UK, said: “We are delighted to help MS-RT grow through its new manufacturing plant on the Ford Dagenham estate and diversify operations at its existing site in Mamhilad, creating jobs at both sites.
